DARTMOOR PONIES AT RUINS OF FOGGINTOR QUARRY DEVON
Dartmoor ponies graze peacefully on barren moorland by the atmospheric building ruins of the remote, abandoned Foggintor Quarry, near Merrivale between Tavistock and Princetown in Dartmoor National Park, Devon, SW England, UK. Granite mined from the quarry was used to build Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square in London. Remains of the old granite railway and some huge dressed stone granite corbels (from a cancelled Victorian order for London Bridge) can also be seen nearby on the moor.
