ROCK PILES CLIGGA HEAD MINE CORNWALL

Piles of balanced rock on spoil from Cligga Head Mine stand sentinel like over steep cliffs with the turquoise Atlantic Ocean and Bawden Rocks (also called Man and His Man) beyond. The mine and allied factory ruins are situated in a geologically unusual area. Wolframite (tungsten) was extracted mainly from Victorian times until the end of World War Two and was important in the manufacture of explosives. At one time the operation was owned by the famous Nobel family. Taken in November at Cligga Head, Perranzabuloe, between St Agnes and Perranporth, North Cornwall, SW England, UK
